Allure of the ancient city of Kashi
Varanasi is an ancient city located on the banks of river Ganga in India with its history going back some 10,000 years to the oldest epics of Hindu literature. It was known as Kashi in ancient times. It is believed to have been founded by the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and it holds a central place in the traditions of pilgrimage, death, and mourning in the Hindu world.

Varanasi is one of the oldest continuously occupied urban settlements in the world and is a great example of flood resilient sustainable city. The ghats of Varanasi date back to the 14th century and are primarily used for bathing and Hindu religious rituals.
